Saturday, the 18th, the Alumni game was canceled but the boys practiced. Coach Er and Morris were nice enough to let us get the pictures taken of the boys for the program.
There are 2 rosters right now for the boys, but both had the disclaimer "Subject to change at anytime."
Since this is a blog I have set up, I want to stress the importance of positive parental support. I have been guilty of being an "in the stands coach". Speaking my mind in the stands, our car, or at home. I look back and realize, when I did that I was degrading the coach in my child's eyes. I didn't mean to, I was being a parent, wanting to support my child.
What I really want my son to learn are the following things:
- Work hard and dedicate yourself to improvement. In life that is what will help you be successful.
- Learn to respect those with whom you work and work under.
- There is ALWAYS someone better than you.
- Respect for authority is a must.
- Baseball is a game, but has many skills that will carry you through life.
- Enjoy when you are at the top of your game, because you WILL go down and have to work your way up again. Don't give up! Keep working!
- In all things look for the "Life Lesson."
